There's a lot going right now for those who want to protect Bastrop's water!


Don't miss this VERY! important meeting on Monday night at 7 with the TCEQ about the wastewater permit we posted for you last week HERE. Hint: Free BBQ starts at 5 pm!) Official comments are closed at midnight on Monday. Come make your comments to TCEQ and hear what others have to say. Invite residents and officials, please.



Simsboro Aquifer Water Defense Fund's Andy Wier has just posted his helpful comments about the permit HERE. If you come early on Monday, Andy will be there to answer questions before the meeting begins.

Steve Box, Environmental Stewardship, a leader in water protection (quantity and quality), just released an email alert about Monday's meeting HERE.

I think a very real compromise exists that is being ignored for reasons unknown.


Constructed Wetlands

Constructed wetlands are artificial wetlands designed to treat wastewater using natural processes. They employ plants, microorganisms, and soil to filter and break down pollutants, resulting in cleaner effluent.

Constructed wetlands are particularly effective in removing nutrients and pathogens from wastewater. They are a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution that mimics natural wetland ecosystems.

Artificial or Constructed wetlands would help mitigate habitat loss for many local water fauna / migratory birds and safely denitrify the treated wastewater while keeping our natural waterways clean and safe.
